Shawna and Grace made the costume of the hot air balloon that Grace has on for Halloween. All went well until Grace had to get on the bus to go from morning day care to afternoon senior Kindergarten, 3 blocks away. The bus driver would not let Grace take the costume on the bus as it would create a blind spot. As you can imagine it was a devastating and emotional time for Grace. The day care phoned me at the store and as I didn't have a car it was Brenda to the rescue. I told her it was her "other duties as assigned" on her job description. So off she went to pick up the costume and take it to the school. Brenda said the look on Grace's face when she saw Brenda was priceless. All was well again in her life. As far as Rosie; everything was fine for a bit then she just wasn't happy with the entire costume thing...we think.

Since I'm sitting here feeling sorry for myself with a lousy cold and ear infection I thought I might as well send this out to let you all know
how the Retailer show in California went. Before I get into that I would like to give everyone a piece of advice. If you have a cold and an ear
infection please don't fly. I can't stress this enough as the pain you will endure with the pressure changes in the cabin is not something you want
to experience! Enough said, I don't even want to think about it anymore.
Had a great time with our friends, Bryan and Sandy and enjoying sunshine and 65 degree temperatures. Spent 3 days at the show investigating over 500 booths then out at night enjoying meals with our stamping friends out there.
As there was a Consumer Supershow that took place for a couple days before the retailer show we were actually able to do some shopping at the booths. As well as seeing the new products this allowed me to buy a few to bring home and try before committing to a large order. One thing I did pick up is a new product called "Mudd Puddles". This product is like the embossing paste you apply to brass stencils to create the image instead of dry embossing. You can also add it as an embellishment to your cards to give dimension like sand. I think it has some great possibilities, and as you know with Brenda and Sue's innovative ideas it should prove popular.
Another new product is "Mica Gloss Accents". This was featured at Judikins booth and they sure sold me on this product. I purchased their 18 colours and Brenda has already googled many of the different techniques you can do with it.
Found out some tricks with Marvy Matchable reinkers, diamond glaze, Memento reinkers, Love Potion #9 as well as others that I can't wait to try.
I brought home some new kits from Sparkraft and very soon will have card samples of these kits on the site. The card samples are already displayed in the store. Had fun with all these kits.
I also was quite excited about a very new product called "Freeze Frame". This is a must have tool for scrapbookers and they will soon come out with a smaller size for cardmakers. I ordered this product at the show and can't wait to have it available to make life easier for you. Check out their site www.thefreezeframe.com and very soon you'll see my store name on their site as a dealer.
Another product I was able to purchase a few of to test the waters is, the JustRite Stamp line. Looks very promising.
A new product that really did not impress me is the StazOn Metallic inks and pad. Just couldn't see anything exciting with the product at all.
Couldn't even get near the booth where Tim Holtz's was talking and doing his demos. I had one of the girls in our group get me one of his new Sizzix die cuts and she even got his autograph on the package. Personally I can't see what all the fuss is about with this man although I do admit he has talent. Anyways I will definitely be getting his new distress inks in the store as soon as I can and will look into his line of Sizzix dies as well.
Have got a lot of catalogs to sort through. Here is just a few of the companies and products that I found quite interesting.
Slice owners will be tickled with the new cartridges coming out and the new 12 x 12 glass mat that I got to work with. I cut out fabric and didn't even need to hold onto the machine. It was so busy I didn't get to research the embossing capabilities of this machine but you can bet I'll get the scoop on it as soon as I can. I won a "Playground" Slice cartridge and picked up 3 new ones for the store. Come into the store and try out this machine to see how great it is. We love it!!
Spellbinders have all their new dies on their site as well as an interesting new tool called the Presto Punch. I saw it work and although I do think it's a pretty neat little machine I don't think it's worth the $70. US price tag they put on it. Check all their new products at http://spellbinderspaperarts.com/
I saw the adapter for the Xryon Creatopia to use the Cuttlebug dies in and the new embossing rollers for your 12 x 12 papers. Will be researching that as well for our machine we currently have in the store.
Provo Craft featured a CRICUT cake Machine. The machine cuts the fondant for specialty cakes such as wedding. Another machine, but any dies you have for your regular slice will work on the Cake Slice. You really have to be into the cake decorating scene to want this new tool. I was very impressed with the new Cuttlebug folders, dies, combo folders and now the 12 inch mats for the new embossing and 12 inch die cuts. For ladies who like to quill, picture this. They now have a diecut that cuts out very fine strips to make flowers. The tool for quillers right now is the fringer to make these special flowers...well you no longer need to spend $50.00 for a fringer. I was very excited about these new diecuts. Of course Cuttlebug continues to excite us with their products.
Other products or companies that I will be ordering from in 2010 are.... Elizabeth Craft Design ( peel offs and their amazing fine glitter)
A couple new cardstock companies where I can get matching envelopes for brides invites.
Orgami and Asian papers
New quilling kits
New Flowersoft colours and probably some of their page toppers
An amazing glue stick that really really does work on vellum
Pentel has a new gel pen that is a must to have in our inventory
sparkly fluff and foils
There were only 6 new vendors at the show which was a real surprise and nothing really in the stamping and scrapbooking line. Existing companies of course had new lines of papers and stamps so I have a list to keep me busy ordering this year.
One of my goals for 2010 is to pick a new stamp company each month for my "Sweet Deals". I have certainly found more than 12 new companies to pursue so we have exciting things ahead.
I'm sure if I didn't have this fuzzy head I could think of many other things to write about but I'll save it for the next newsflash. I have to get it all straight in my mind what road to travel down first.
The current sale in the store will continue awhile longer with 40% discount applied to many store items.
My web site technician and I have decided that it's time for me to learn to put day to day changes up on the site so Dan will be teaching me in the near future. This will allow me to have changes and new items up on the site quicker. Please bear with me as I take on this new challenge.
Keith and I have decided to try a few changes this year in regards to packing up the store and attending out of town shows. There used to be quite a few we attended but they have been discontinued. As there is only the Kitchener and Bancroft show this year we have decided to remain at home and host two events ourselves. Last year instead of our Autumn Retreat at the Days Inn in Welland we hosted an Autumn Fling in our own downtown area. This year we will repeat that event and will add a Spring Fling to our calendar. I have found another venue that is only 2 blocks away from the store that would be much better in so many ways. Now that California is in the past I can focus on the Spring event. Bryan and Sandy have confirmed that they are available to attend our event in early May, but of course I have to check with my girls as well. There is alot to iron out of course but I wanted to keep everyone informed about what our plans are for 2010. For those of you interested in our events, pencil in that May weekend and as soon as we finalize things we will put it out in a newsflash.
So that's it for now. Lots of exciting things to happen in 2010. Stay tuned.

Well, here we are again...another year just flew by. I'm sitting at the computer killing some time while waiting for our friends, Bryan and Sandy, to fly in from New York. Going to spend, let's see, probably our 5th New Years Eve together. We are not really party goers so it will be a nice meal at home and then probably a game and some fun with the WII. We received Super Mario Cart for Christmas so that's the latest game we are having a blast with. I should have been a race car driver!!
ON THE PERSONAL SIDE
Christmas was great just being with the girls and watching them through the magic of Santa. Had our Christmas with Keith's side up in London 2 weeks ago. A little more hectic with the bigger family and 7 kids but certainly nice to all get together. Had some exciting news from my parttimer Janice a couple of weeks ago. Her daughter won a million dollars in the Cancer lottery. I know, it's hard to imagine isn't it. Just thinking about it and all the family members you could help boggles your mind, let alone the comfort you would have for yourself. The month of December was busy like everyone else's getting ready for the holidays so not much other news. Time to let you know..
WHAT'S NEW IN THE STORE.
First, I want to thank all of you who took the time to bring in mittens, scarves, socks etc for our mitten tree. Thanks to your generosity we were able to donate over 150 warm items as well as $26.95 in cash to Port Cares in Port Colborne.
Not alot new in the store as far as new earth shattering products. I'll probably have alot more to report on that subject after the Retailer show at the end of January. We do have the new "Smooch" spray metallics from Clearsnap in the store. They are great for backgrounds on your paper.
We have more colours of the glitter paper that has been so popular for cardmakers.
Ladies who have purchased Copic Markers are now starting to ask whether we will carry the refills for the markers. Rather than carry the refills to sell, in the near future we will be offering the service of refilling your marker for you at a price of $1.00 for each marker. Carrying all the refills to sell would not be cost effective to us and we feel customers would be just as pleased if we fill the marker for them rather than they spend $6.00 on each refill. Our goal in 2010 is to have refills for all the colours that we sell. Stay tuned for more information on this. On the same subject we now carry the White Copic paint in our store. See below for a great tip on one way to use this paint.
We have some very pretty Valentine paper in the store for those of you who make Valentine cards and like to use patterned paper.
Whenever you are in the store don't forget to check our 50% off centre. We are always adding products onto this area when new things arrive.
This is just a piece of information about the Slice Cartridges. They have a huge variety of cartridges out on the market now. We are getting some of the new ones in for the workshop area in the near future. Although I don't carry them in the store (due to the large selection) you can certainly order them from me.
This also applies to Cricut cartridges that you can't seem to get your hands on. I know Michaels carries many of them and very often has a sale, which is why I don't stock them, but if there is one you desperately need and can't get we are here for you. This applies to most items anyone is looking for, with alittle patience I most likely can get what you want.
WHAT'S COMING IN THE FUTURE
Beginning January 11th we will be starting a store wide 25% discount sale. The only exceptions to this sale are Spellbinders, Cuttlebug, Copic markers and Copic products. These products will not have a discount except to 3 "S" members who will receive their 10% discount as per usual. We have a full store of products and with the upcoming retailer show in California we need to make room for new products that I will be ordering. This sale does not apply to any special orders that are at the present time under our counter waiting for pickup. Our 3 "S" members have the preceding week (Jan. 4th to Jan 9th) to take advantage of the sale first. Due to their membership they will enjoy a 25% discount plus an extra 10% discount on their purchases.
I have recently found a distributor who ships Neenah Classic White Cardstock. I have had quite a few inquiries from ladies who use Copic Markers and wish to purchase this type of paper. As I have never ordered from this company before I am unsure when this order will arrive. I presume as it's from the states I probably won't see it until the second week of January. For those who are interested in this paper I have ordered a large amount so no worries that I will sell out of it quickly. You can try calling after Jan. 11th to inquire if it is in the store. I know many of you will be happy to hear I am now carrying this.
For January the Sweet Deal of the month will be Magnolia stamps. These stamps are a little different and have to be ordered from the United Kingdom so the time frame to receive these stamps is not something I can predict. As well, I have to order these stamps in quantities of 6 so I decided to use the Sweet Deal as an opportunity to find out how popular these stamps will be in my store. I have had a few customers who have these stamps already, bring me in a few of their cards they have made and all the staff are quite taken with them. With all of this in mind the following designs can be ordered during the month of January and you will receive a 25% discount on the price quoted on the site. Hope you like the ones we have picked for our sweet deal.
Check out the page Sweet Deals for 2010 to see which ones qualify for the discount. You might also want to check our "Customers Projects" on the site to see how Pat McLean and Sylvia Oliphant have coloured these adorable little girls with their Copic Markers.
TIPS AND TECHNIQUES
Many of these T & T I found in the Vamp Stamp News Magazine.
Well, that's the 1st quarter newsletter for 2010. Stay tune for the next newsflash as I will have lots to tell you about our trip to California. Keith is coming with me and we will be meeting Bryan and Sandy there so will try to have a bit of fun in the warm LA climate.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday Season and all the best in 2010.
Pauline and the STAMPLICITY gang.
The pictures below are of our yearly Spring & Fall Fling that we hold the second weekend in September. It was great this year as we held it in our store and at a vacant store directly across the street. We had 54 ladies either take Stampscapes classes, sit for the day at an assigned table to do cropping or cardmaking or take part in our make and takes throughout the weekend. We even had a card swap that Sue organized and 8 ladies participated in. Our local merchants or the companies I deal with were very generous with give-aways or door prizes. We had a large group decide to have supper at a local restaurant on the Sat. evening. The food was good and the company great. If the comments we heard about the weekend were anything to go by I would say everyone had a great time. It was such a treat for me not to have to pack up half the store to take it to another venue that my goal is to continue to have this yearly event in my hometown in the downtown area. We'll see how things shape up next year.
Many thanks to those attendees that supported my event this year.

Spellbinders is introducing yet more new Nestabilities and products at the big retailers show in Orlando. On their site, for the last couple weeks, every day they showed you a new one. Well, I've seen them all so I thought I would put them on the new product page of the site. Now, it's another story on when these will be available in my store. I am pre-ordering them so I should be one of the first stores to receive them. To give you an educated guess on when I think they would be available, based on Provo Craft's previous history in bringing out products I would say late fall. Their new pendants and borderabilities were suppose to be here already. Although I got some pendants everything else is on back order and not expected until Sept 30th, so I was told.
I'll keep you posted on everything. In the meantime you can decide the ones you must have.
