IT'S A GIRL!!!!!!
Well, my gut feeling was that Shawna would have a boy but
that shows you what a mother knows!!!! Rosemary June Luey was born
April 29th. She weighed in at 8 lb 10 oz and 20 1/2" long.
Rosemary and Shawna are doing very well. Everything went so
smoothly that she was born at 3:15 in the morning and was home from the
hospital by 1 pm the same day. Things are a little different
nowadays!!!! Grace is pretty cool about the whole baby thing.
She was watching her sleep the other day and said to Shawna "I
think she's dreaming about milk". Later she was crying so
Grace went over and patted her bum, after about 5 second she said "
Well, that didn't work" and went off to watch TV. The next
month should be interesting!!
CREATING KEEPSAKE CONVENTION
The Creating Keepsakes Scrapbook convention is coming to Buffalo
NY on May 29th, 30th and May 31st, 2008 at the Buffalo Convention
Center in Buffalo, N.Y. Are you ready for an exciting weekend of
scrapbooking fun? We have teamed with Creating Keepsake to
kick-off the convention festivities now. If you haven't
pre-registered on line for the event just drop into Stamplicity and you
can purchase your admission ticket for only $6.00. Avoid waiting
in long lines at the convention and save yourself
$1.00!!! It's a great show. Although we won't have a booth,
Brenda and I will be attending on Thurs and Fri to help out.
Hope to see you there!!!
PRODUCTS
Our store continues to fill up with new products.
We have the latest in Penny Black, Hero Arts stamps and many of the
Stampscapes line will be arriving in big numbers. Bryan Hann has
arranged with a Toronto stamping group to teach 2 Stampscape classes on
May 17th at our store. It will be nice to see the Hanns again.
AUTUMN RETREAT
This is for the ladies that will be attending our
retreat. Samples of the classes are now on the site so if you
haven't signed up for any of them, there are still some openings in
each class. Just call the store as soon as possible so you aren't
disappointed. Our retreat filled up very early this year!!!!!!
HARD DRIVE CRASH
Two days before Rosemary came along my computer at home
decided to give me grief. The hard drive crashed and I lost alot.
I had to input hundreds of email before I could send this out to all of
you. I took the list of emails from the store and entered them
here at home. I'm holding my breath once I send this that my
records were all correct at the store and any email address changes I
have received had been changed at the store. If one of your
friends states they haven't received anything from me this could be the
reason. I don't know about you, but computers add more stress
in my life more than anything else.!!!!
I guess that's it for now, had to share the news about
Rosemary.
NEWSFLASH!! Stamplicity's newsflash to announce some important items CREATING KEEPSAKES SCRAPBOOK CONVENTION WANT TO WIN A Gift Certificate for a FREE CREATING KEEPSAKES SCRAPBOOK CONVENTION GIFT??? The Creating Keepsakes Scrapbook convention is coming to Buffalo NY on May 29th, 30th and Msy 31st, 2008 at the Buffalo Convention Center in Buffalo, N.Y. Are you ready for an exciting weekend of scrapbooking fun? We have teamed with Creating Keepsake to kick-off the convention festivities now. If you have already pre-registered for the convention online, then we have a surprise for you. We are offering a special gift certificate (valued at $16.95 retail) to the first 12 customers who bring a copy of their CKC online pre-registration confirmation into our store. Haven't pre-registered yet? Then go to www.ckscrapbookevents.com and sign up today. You can also stop by our store to pick up a $2.00 off Vendor Faire admission coupon for yourself and your friends. THAT MEANS PURCHASE YOUR ADMISSION AT MY STORE FOR ONLY $6.00 Avoid waiting in long lines at the convention.Visit the CKC website for show hours, class schedules and other information about the convention. Brenda and I plan to attend the convention on the Thurs and Fri. to help in the crop rooms or wherever they need our assistance. We also will make sure we attend the Vendors Faire to see what is new and exciting in the world of scrapbooking. It's a great convention so plan to attend. If it wasn't for the hassle of bringing inventory across the border I would be there with a booth!!!! INKADINKADOO PROGRAM This program is back due to it's popularity at Christmas!! It's simple!!! Buy 2 stamps from the special Inkadinkadoo line I just got in and get a third one (your choice) of equal or lesser value free. With the program, we also have a brochure giving you some ideas on what to do with your new purchases as well as a sample board that is up in the store. All the stamps are great and it will be hard to decide what 3 to get. Quantities are limited so visit the store soon. NEW PRODUCTS We are still investigating new companies but just to let you know we have the Zach line of "My Little Yellow Bicycle" now in the store. Coming this week is a huge order of the new woodmount and Clear stamps from "Hero Arts". Also this week we will be picking up a large order of "Penny Black" which includes the 2 Stamps of the Month for May. We have so many pre-orders for these stamps (people couldn't decide so they ordered both) Also April's SOTM from Technique Tuesday has been popular and you have until month end to order that one at the great price of $12.95 We are waiting for Upsy Daisy's new line of papers. Not sure what the hold up is with them, they were ordered almost a month ago. Provo Craft's Cuttlebug dies continue to fly off the shelves therefore another large order will be coming shortly. At Scrapfest in Kitchener this year I played hookey and instead of having a booth I attended the show as a customer, took some classes and just walked the show to observe the products that are popular. One of the classes involved Tim Holtz's distress inks and I got some great ideas on how to get much more out of these inks. The entire line of the inks are in the store now so we can work with them. You can look forward to future classes using them. Missing the Retail California show due to mom's death made me feel alittle out of touch with the new things on the market. At Scrapfest I was able to come to some conclusions on products I will be carrying in the future. I was impressed with Spellbinders dies and they work so well in the cuttlebug, you'll see them in the store in the near future. I would like to pursue some of the "Paper Trunk" paper line. One of my teachers at the Autumn Retreat is using a particular line of SEI papers so I'll be pursuing them as well. Sue was just on 3 weeks holidays and she purchased some different papers while in the states. It was quite ironic that the line Brenda and I were talking about and setting up an order for while she was away, is one that she was quite taken with and brought home with her. Nice to know I'm on track with my staff. I have been investigating paper lines that have a nice texture to them other than Bazzill (as it's out there everywhere) I found one and it's called Core'dinations. What's unique about this line is when you rip or sand the cardstock you get a different "core" colour. I bought some in Kitchener to see if it lives up to what people are saying about it......it does, so expect to see that in the store as well. Ink Unique is a company that has great cling stamps so that's another company on my list. As well Antique Unique is a nice paper line. Sue brought some home with her. Stamp Barn has a new line of cling stamps that I found interesting so I placed an order, we worked with them and "the shoes" are gone already. The "house", and "butterfly" are still in the store and that's all I'm going to tell you. Come and we'll show you these unique stamps. Stamp Barn has also acquired "Sunshine Design" by Krista Schneider. You have to visit their site, www.stampbarn.com , to see this new line as that will be coming to Stamplicity as well. The "Big Bite" ($43.95) as well as Cuttlebug's "Design Studio" ($69.00) are selling well due to my great prices. I am keeping prices on the Cuttlebug products and Cricut products low so I can service my customers with these great items. Just call the store to inquire on the prices of these machines and their accessories. Keep in mind if I don't have what you want in stock it can be ordered for the price I offer in the store. Other larger price items I offer as Demo deals monthly so you can save money. Check out the site to see what our monthly specials are. www.stamplicity.comCANADIAN SCRAPBOOKER This popular magazine is offering a contest during 2008 that is very easy to enter. All you have to do is have a copy of the magazine and answer some questions. Check it all out at www.canadianscrapbooker.ca and follow the links to their 2008 Trivia Contest. You could win some great products/gift certificates!!!Well, I think that's it for now. Next project on my list is having a party for our 3 "S" Members. Here's part of the email that I sent to our members and what is happening at the party. There's nothing holding us back now!! With a little twist, we are going to celebrate "National Scrapbook Day" but not on the actual date. I had planned on having it right on May 3rd which is the well known event, but as Shawna is due May 1st you can bet if I set the 3rd as the date that's when the baby will arrive. With this in mind we will have our party on Wednesday May 14th, and of course, we are inviting all our 3 "S" members.Like the Super Bowl I have every year, we will have Make and Takes, contests, door prizes pizza and refreshments. As well, I will be having my own garage sale with items from the workshop (stamps, tools etc). I am inviting all those of you who will be able to join us to bring your well loved items that you no longer want. To make things easy for you so you don't have to remain at a table with your items, we will have one large area for everything. Your items will be marked with your name and we will keep track of what is sold. Once the sale is over the amount will be tallied up and you will be given a store credit for the $ amount of items sold. You can join us just by signing up for a yearly membership. Call the store to get details of this membership. Have a great spring...it's sure starting out nice!!!!! Regards…..Pauline and the gang ***************************************************************************************** STAMPLICITY’S
NEWSLETTER FOR APRIL, MAY & JUNE ON
THE PERSONAL SIDE I
can finally say things have calmed down in my life!!!
Mom’s house has sold and closed.
We were able to get rid of all the large furniture, her car and the
balance of smaller household items we hope will be dealt with at a spring
garage sale. I will send out a
newsflash when that date is arranged as I know many people love a garage
sale. My attic is full of
lamps, kitchen items, cups and saucers, blankets, etc. Life
is returning to normal but I can still come home and say to Keith, “Did
mom call” some things are
just automatic. Unless
something unforeseen happens the next email contact from me will be to
announce that I’m a nana again. Shawna
is doing well and is due May 1st.
She hopes to have a natural birth this time and has a mid-wife.
I would love to see my grandchild born so we are keeping our fingers
crossed. Spring
is here and with that comes plans to attend conventions and have some
special events at the store. So
lets talk about…. WHAT’S
GOING ON AT STAMPLICITY Bryan
and Sandy came to visit us last weekend and brought with them all the new
catalogs they picked up for me from the CHA convention in January.
More decisions to be made now as the last month’s sale (which is
still happening) has left space for new papers and products.
We’re moving things around again to better display the new items
that will be arriving. It’s a
neverending job to ensure all the new Cuttlebug products are in the store
(another large shipment will be here by Fri Apr. 11th) for the
great demand that’s out there. People
have been pleasantly surprised when they see I have a good supply but are
also willing to order what they want if it’s not in stock.
Customers like to know I can order almost anything for them, will
stand behind my products and that all the staff in the store will demo any
tool or product. In
this everchanging industry and with the big chains carrying scrapbook
supplies we have re-evaluated what Stamplicity will be carrying in the
future. For example, if you
want a unique or specific style or themed scrapbook album, you know you can
come into our store, we will hunt it down and make every effort to order it
as quicly as possible for you. The
chains are carrying stickers now so our priority is not in that area unless
once again it is something unique. You
won’t find what we have in stamping and scrapbooking supplies in the chain
stores. You won’t find the
service and knowledge that you get in our store in the chains. Classes
will be unique and different. If
you want a certain class on a certain date and a time convenient to you,
just ask. If our workshop is
open and the teacher is working then it might well be a one on one class.
We are here for you, that’s what customer service is all about.
We know our products and can give you many ideas or suggestions on
what to do with something new you are buying. Although
clear and unmounted stamps seem to be taking over the stamping industry we
are here for those veteran stampers who prefer wood mount.
We will continue to carry Penny Black, Stampscapes, Outlines and
other companies that are unique to the stamping world.
Stampers and scrapbookers who prefer the clear stamps will find a
great variety of sets at the store as we stock up on new designs. And
then there is the paper selection and new companies!!! Our
Stamp of the Month will continue for the balance of the year and our Demo
Deals are making people very happy. The
demos are usually on a new tool that people hesitate to pay full price for
in case they might not use it. We
can demo other products in the store and have the Cricut and Cuttlebug
always set up ready to show our customers or even let them give it a try. WHAT’S COMING IN THE FUTURE Oh
boy, the list is really too long and we are still searching through Sue
is going to have a granddaughter in the summer so look out for her girly
scrapbook pages (to date it’s been all about boys).
She is extremely excited. Myself,
I truly think Shawna will have a boy (just a hunch) so the girly pages I
currently do will take a bit of a back seat.
Brenda is building a house and is taking pictures of different stages
so her pages will take on a new look. She
just came back from Disneyworld so look for those kind of pages. Janice has
been making cards for her daughter to sell in Toronto and her designs have
added scrapbook paper to her cards so this is another new look for the
store. National
Scrapbook day is May 3rd. so I will be sending emails out to our
3 “S” members to invite them to enjoy a day of scrapping or stamping,
enjoying pizza and door prizes. If
I don’t get a good response I will put the invitation out in a newsflash
for other customers to enjoy the day. Although
I am not attending Scrapfest as a vendor on April 11th and 12th
I am going to the Kitchener show with some good friends, taking some
classes, just look over the convention AND DO SOME RELAXING.
Can’t wait to be on the other side of the fence for a change and
enjoy a weekend away. Creating
Keepsake is having their annual Buffalo Convention on May 30th and 31st.
I will not have a booth there as it’s a big hassle to take product
across the border but Brenda and I are planning a presence there to help out
in classes or crops. Things
aren’t settled yet but we will be donating to goody bags and giving some
door prizes. We will also be
selling passes to the vendors fare at a good price.
Come and get your ticket and information at Stamplicity…..it’s a
great show!!! Janice
and I belong to the Hamilton Calligraphy Guild and have been members for
many years now. Every other
year they put on a great all day sampler with classes and a vendors fare in
the evening. I will have a
booth there and will be teaching a Pergamano class.
Here is the website if you are interested in this event on April 26th
this year. www.hamiltoncalligraphyguild.com.
It’s
a fun day!!! I
still have a good sale on many products for 50% discount and will continue
to reduce items as other new items come in.
There are some great gift ideas such as clocks, picture boxes, etc
for you to decorate. There are
some beautiful albums like Mickey Mouse and others on discount as well,
alphabet, chipboard, punches and stamps plus embellishments. I
think I’ve covered all the news for now.
To keep informed of the Stamp Of the Month and Monthly Demo Deals
visit our site often. I am
always putting up new pages and cards to help your creative juices flow.
Please bring in any albums or any projects you have completed, we
love to put our customers designs up on our site to give visitors different
ideas. Happy
Spring to all of you from all the staff.
I leave you with another favourite part of this newsletter…. TIPS AND TECHNIQUES 1.
Set the mood with color.
Every color represents a feeling. (We learned that in Calligraphy)
When you’re struggling to pick just the right hue, think about the
mood you want to convey and build from there.
Here’s a quick guide to the meanings of some colors.. RED…
Love, passion, energy, anger & strength ORANGE…sun
heat summer, autumn, joy, & creativity BLUE…sky,
water, peace, faith, stability, tranquillity, & wisdom YELLOW…sun,
happiness, optimism, intellect, & concentration GREEN…serenity,
money, nature, spring, freshness & growth 2.
Turn unassuming cookie cutters into savvy
scrapbooking tools by using them to create fun shapes for your pages. 3.
Write your journaling first.
Then choose photos that go along with the story.
Let the design flow from the words and photos. 4.
Keep a journal, online, on paper, on a blog,
on a calendar, or on the refrigerator.
A journal will help you keep track of details you want to scrapbook
and make it easier to recall the story after some time has passed.
With Gracie always coming out with something cute I have to stop and
quickly write it down then store it for future use. 5.
Glitter is the new ink!
I use glitter on clean & torn edges, or to outline details on
embellishments and patterned paper. The
glue out now such as Dries Clear make it so easy!! 6.
Authentic Moments to Capture…..your
husband/boyfriend washing the car…planting flowers… .the table before or
after a special family dinner….playing board games with family or
friends….Taking a hike or walk… a child’s artwork, children helping
with yard work or gardening… a child watching her/his favourite program
and capture their facial expressions. So look forward to our big news in a few weeks and come visit us in the store now that it feels better to get out of the house. I hear this weekend is suppose to be beautiful!! **************************************************************************************** |
