Resources Newsletters STAMPLICITY'S NEWSLETTER FOR AUGUST & SEPTEMBER 2008

ON THE PERSONAL SIDE

I know this newsletter is a little late but as we have been busy with the Bancroft convention and the Chicago Retailers Convention I know you all understand what 'busy' means. I figured I better get this out tonight as tomorrow Keith and I babysit Rosemary till Sunday. Shawna and Mark are going to Chicago for the weekend and Grace is going to Mark's parents so Shawna figured Iwould be able to focus on just the baby. I have passed the test of having her for 2 complete nights so although she doesn't know how she can leave her so long is is prepared to try it. I have all my instructions!!!!! We are looking forward to it as she is taking interest in things now and gives us some pretty big smiles. Grace is handling the new baby thing very well and really dotes on her although she gets a little rough playing with her sometimes. Doesn't seem to be any jealously so that's a good thing. Doesn't seem possible Grace goes to junior kindergarden in the fall. She is ready for it though. We are very busy at the store and Keith has more hours at Shoppers for the summer so it fills our days. We are enjoying the back deck even though the heat is so bad this summer. I have lots to tell you about the Chicago show, so enough about my family and I and let's talk about what's going on at Stamplicity....

WHAT'S COMING IN THE FUTURE

This section is going to take up alot of space as we had an amazing time in Chicago and have much to let you know about orders placed and companies we want to pursue for the balance of 2008. Thank goodness all the driving time was uneventful other then the construction we went through on each major highway. Chicago at rush Drivingthere really took all day and once we got to Chicago we thought we would go to the big Archivers store. Of course,it took a couple hours before we left that store and had supper at the Olive Garden so it was a long day. I guess to begin with, I was right, the girls were in awe of the show on Friday!!! Of 800 booths on the floor, I would think 3/4 of them were scrapbooking or cardmaking vendors. For Friday, I made a list of booths I wanted the girls to check out for me so I could focus on other issues and they did their job well. Friday night I got a list of their 5 favourite vendors and Saturday we went back to those booths plus other booths of vendors I currently deal with to see what's new and exciting. It was a real scramble come late afternoon Sat. to get a few orders placed before the show closed for the day at 5. Wedid get a few orders placed (it was a hard choice) and left Chicago Sat night to get a few hours driving time in so the ride home Sunday wouldn't be so long. The make and takes we did were all amazing and you can check them out on the site under special events.. Provo Craft haddraws every day at three different times and to really get Brenda and Sue pumped, Sue won a new Disney Cricut cartridge at the first draw on Friday. To say we had fun and returned home tired but pleased with the weekend is to put it mildly. The girls were a great help to me and as I trust their opinions it made the event that must easier to get through. So now I think you would like to know just what vendors impressed us so much. In what order we will place orders depends on our needs in the store. Right now we are

These are 3 companies I have not ordered before but were at the top of our list!!!!! Wait till you see Following close behind but not yet ordered are...

Of course, there are many more products that we will be pursuing from distributors and a few of them "The Slice" ishopefully coming out in October from Making Memories http://www.makingmemories.comThis machine has blown away Sue and Brenda and even now they haven't stopped bugging me about getting this in. It's a cool machine and has been talked about for a couple months but still not yet available. (I think these companies do this on purpose to get everyone pumped up about the product) We did a make and take with it and I must admit it is very cool and would be just great for cardmakers. Stay tuned for future news.

Copic Markers are an alcohol based marker that is great to colour on non-porous surfaces like the paintable transparencies and to colour in stamp images. Sue was really taken with them as that is her specialty. They will compliment the

Oh brother, you should see what Provo Craft is bringing out. 12 new Cricut Cartridges, a stronger blade for the Cricut to cut chipboard and other mediums, material to make your own embossing folders and clear stamps. We couldn't believe it. Their products are truly amazing and seeing what they have lined up confirms to me that they have the best cutting and embossing machines. I am glad I am carrying this product. Check out the Tinkerbell make and take on.

We learned other things with Alcohol Inks as well as Distress inks from the one and only Tim Holtz. Yes, Brenda got a picture of him demoing and was our photographer taking 240 pictures of just about everything. We are going to have such fun doing a scrapbook album of our weekend. There's probably some crazy

Our next big event will be Canal Days in Port Colborne on Aug. 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th. This is an annual fun filled event in our city and they close the downtown streets to allow people to enjoy all the events. There is kite flying at the park as well as other events, many crafters line West Street, the downtown stores stay open later (including Stamplicity) and many bands perform day and night on the long weekend. We get many visiting Port for this event, come and join in on the fun. Check out http://city.portcolborne.on.ca for other details.

After that it will be full steam ahead for preparation on our Spring & Fall Fling. We found some great make and takes that the 58 attendees will have fun doing. Shawna wants to be apart of it this year since she is off on maternity leave so she is planning a make and take as well. Our vendors are being very generous with prizes so ladies, you can start getting excited about your weekend. We have some fun times ahead for you. For those of you that have registered you will receive your letters outlining more details shortly after August 1st. I am assigning Keith that job. There is much more I could write about but I know your time is precious so I'll leave you with some tips and techniques to end the newsletter.
